    Hubby, daughter and I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago. We decided to hit up the Cafe because the guide books we had and Yelp all advertized it as a brew pub. They may have had some great beers on tap but they were not a brew pub per se (hence the loss of a star). As we pulled into Bar Harbor the streets were flooded with people who had just disgorged from 2 huge cruise ships. We were a litte afraid that the restaurant would be mobbed but it's on a side street and must not be on the cruise ship radar. Better for us that way, we sat in the quiet courtyard enjoying the late summer sun. Daughter got chicken fingers and french fries which were homemade, not some frozen junk. Hubby got a bowl of lobster and cod chowder which he said was pretty amazing and we split a Bang Bang sandwich - everything was great, waitress was pleasant, helpful and right on task.

    The rain finally stopped in my rain-filled trip in Maine and it turned out to be a lovely evening. So, I asked Mr. Hottie out on a date. We were in Bar Harbor, after all! Isn't Bar Harbor for lovers? Or is that Niagara Falls? Whatever. We started our date with drinks and an app at Lompoc. Lompoc is a cute café in a seemingly historic home. We sat outside in the garden area where there were plenty of tables and even an area for Bocce ball. I ordered a Cosmo and Mr. Hottie ordered a Dark and Stormy. Unfortunately, Mr. Hottie was called away on an important phone call and I sat by myself most of the time. I just sat back and enjoyed the rain-free weather and sipped my well-made drink. I watched as servers dashed back and forth and everyone seemed to be very friendly. I eventually decided to order the friend green tomatoes as our appetizer. It was lightly fried, preserving the integrity of the un-ripened tomato and it was served with a creamy mint sauce that complimented the dish very well. We both enjoyed the dish and it has been something I have thought about again all the way back in Phoenix. When I visit Bar Harbor again, I will definitely hit Lompoc again. The drinks were good, the service was friendly and our appetizer was yummy.

    Mussels sauteed in spicy Dijon sauce - it was so memorable that my group went back to sample it again later that night, but sadly the kitchen was closed (9:30pm). Great joint to stop by after a day's activities around the Harbor. Live music performances at night gives the place a great local touch.

    I really really wanted to like this place. Creative menu, casual, friendly vibe ... But, they took our order and lost us, at 4:30 ish when the place was empty. They acknowledged and comped us a yummy lemon tart for dessert, but we waited about an hour for food. And I'd have forgiven them if the food was special. I had the Ramen noodles which has great potential, but it was salty and the tofu was fried far too long and lost any hint of subtlety. The wife had Shrimp and Grits one of her faves, and wasn't wowed. The boy had a thin crust pizza plain, which was nice, but not special. If I went back I'd try just apps and sandwiches, that might change the whole experience.

    I had the best meal of my life here. My boyfriend and I both ordered the lobster club, which was delicious. But the appetizers had me in seventh heaven. We ordered the pickle snack, cup of chowder, mussels in Dijon sauce, and the beehive. The pickle snack was a little bowl of cilantro pickles and dilly beans (dill pickled green beans). I am a big fan of pickles and both were great. The chowder was not super thick, which I liked. It was an overall good cup of soup. The mussels were fantastic. They were cooked well and the Dijon cream sauce was rich and flavorful. They give you bread to dip into the sauce and needless to say we devoured it all. The real star for me was the beehive. It's goat cheese with chunks of roasted garlic folded in and drizzled with honey. It is served with a delicious bread. The flavors together blew me away. I couldn't get enough of it. It is a relatively simple dish but it tastes like heaven. The prices were more than fair ($20 for the lobster, $9 for the bigger appetizers). The outdoor seating area was beautiful. It did start to rain so we had to move inside toward the end of the meal. Service was a little slow, but well worth the wait.

    A suggestion by Yelp and a local from our Rock Climbing excursion. When we arrived we noticed they were really busy and the hostess give us no attention. About 3-4 minutes he finally comes over and says it's going to be 20-25 min before we can be seated even though we saw a number of tables unattended. He let us know the kitchen was backed up and understaffed and that's why he was waiting to seat anyone so the kitchen can catch-up. I did like the honesty and we decided to stay. He suggested we can sit at the bar and when ready, he'll grab us and seat us. The bar was good! Bartender was nice and busy but we had our drinks! About 10 minutes later, we noticed a number of parties coming in and they were seated immediately, 4 to be exact. I got up and asked the hostess, "you said it was going to be 20 minutes and i see you seating parties". At that time he pulled the Heisman on me with a finger in my face saying "I'll be with you in a second". I was fired up...... Back to the bar and a few minutes later, the hostess comes over (never apologized) and said we can follow him. Took us to our table on the patio and we stayed. Needless to say, I was still fired up. It was a Friday night and my wife and I started to search on where should we go and grab dinner elsewhere. We figured by the time we left, waited for another table etc etc.., it wasn't worth it, so we settled. We left the table and went back to the bar. We ordered the Hummus, Pizza, and a basket of fries. The food came pretty fast and the good was great! Luckily the bartender was nice and gave us long pours, if not, I would've given this restaurant 1 star......

    Called to placed a order; two orders of tikka dish that is on their menu. I drive up, pick it up & go back to my hotel. Sit down anticipating a repeat of flavor & aroma that I experienced few days before when I ordered the dish for first time. Shocked to see that it is just a mix of haphazardly thrown together naan/pita, lump of rice & dry chicken. No curry, no legumes ( don't recall what it is) & it looked really disgusting. Called them again & was told they had ran out of the ingredients that make up the dish. Got me thinking why did they accept the order in first place. Anyway drive up to get refunded & this snotty preppy white guy ( I am brown in color) tells me "Am I not refunding your money" among other things when I asked what happened to being honest to your customers. Not a single word about "sorry we screwed up" ! I guess this is how folks do it in small town that gets overwhelmed by tourists in summer & locals are looking to make a quick buck. For $37 I expect more & better service + attitude. This place sucks, at least the folks that deal with customers.

    Another great dinner thanks to yelp suggestions. I was prepared for the Dijon mussels not to live up to the hype in the yelp reviews, but I had to try them...boy was I wrong - they were even more fabulous than everyone says! The Dijon sauce makes you want to not waste a drop... We also had the hummus with harissa and the chicken pot pie - everything was delicious...our only regret...not saving room for dessert!

    Good food, some reasonable veg options make it stand out for me, but it didnt have much for people seeking seafood or lobster (not a deal breaker for me, being vegetarian). Service was good, atmosphere was nice and casual (it was a nice night and we got to sit outside), food was good too. Pickle snack to start was good, salad with potatoes was interesting, veg banh mi was good as was the falafel burger (although it was very big and if it were smaller maybe it would have been better cooked) .. and bocce!

    In a town like Bar Harbor, where restaurant greeters wielding menus like brandishing irons, Lompoc was a welcomed respite from the hustle of Main Street. We arrived at Lompoc at 4pm after setting up camp at Blackwoods, having skipped lunch and wrestled with a 20'x10' tarp, and just wanting some damn cold local brews. We started off with some Bar Harbor Brewery pints and finally felt fortified enough to take a look at the menu. Two words: BANG BANG. I've never had a better chicken sandwich in my entire life. It's a humble sandwich with little more than chicken on focaccia with mayo but the whole (with our server's suggestion of honey and hot sauce) is WAY more than the parts. Actually, I'm obsessing over how to recreate it. Warm focaccia? Check. Tasty Mayo? Check. Now do I brine the chicken breast? Direct dredging in cornmeal or an eggwash first? GAH! I wish I lived closer!! Oh, this is a four star review, but the fifth star is for a beautiful patio. Home-y like my own backyard, with a bocce court, and the coolest garden owl.

    Good food and a cool eclectic place. We had a few beers from their great selection of draft beers and had one of their house special pizzas. Didn't get to play bocce but the court looked very cool.

    I really enjoyed the Lompac. I enjoyed both their fantastic line up of local beers and their creative and tasty menu items. My falafel burger was ridiculously good. Plus this place gives off good vibes. It's not fancy; instead casual with an bohemian feel to it. A bit hipsterific, but I was able to overlook it. The service was good too. I'll definitely be back during my next trip to Bar Harbor.

    Not horrible, but not worth going out of your way for either. The menu is interesting, but the execution seems to be seriously lacking. Three members of our party ordered burgers that were all very over cooked, mine to the point of sending back. When I got the second burger, ordered medium again, it was well done again. The rest of the food was nothing better then okay. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly and the spot is really cool, but the kitchen really seems to drag this place down.

    Don't you just love Cocktail Hour? For those of you reading most of my latest reviews, I came to Bar Harbor for the wedding of my friend's Lee and Petra. As a pre-wedding celebration, those guests that were in town were invited to a cocktail hour at Lompoc. The whole procession commandeered their outdoor patio, and merriment was had by all. I consumed nearly a whole bottle of this delicious Malbec on my own. What can I say? I like my wine. I did not sample any of the food, so I can't comment on it. I thought the service here, by both the male bearded bartenders and our charming bar maiden who took care of the terrace, was very good. Although they might have used an additional bartender due to the amount of patrons. There was some slight confusion whether I wanted a bottle or glass of wine - being a lush, I wanted a bottle. They ended up giving me a free glass of wine which thoroughly pleased me. It is also rare to find a place that has a bocci ball court, or boule, as the French call it. For those not acquainted with bocci ball, its a form of lawn bowling. Very fun, and not often found here in California. I did not partake, but I did watch a few games, and it looked fun. The atmosphere is like that of a mountain resort, with dark logs making up the outer walls, and warm pine plank paneling on the inside. A public metered lot is conveniently located next door. Next time I'm in the area, perhaps I'll swing by for one of their signature aperitifs. The "Donna Martin" sounded particularly good.

    We were looking for a place in Bar Harbor that was a little bit different (not a steakhouse, not pub food, etc.) and we decided to take a chance on the Lompoc Cafe and it was one of the best meals we've had in Bar Harbor. We had the Spinach and Artichoke dip as an appetizer - it was probably the best Spinach and Artichoke dip I've ever had. They used local yogurt and fresh artichokes. Absolutely delicious. For an entree I had the Shrimp and Grits. I took a chance on it and it was amazing. Grits with cheddar cheese, Maine Shrimp, bacon and fresh cherry tomatoes. It also came with some crispy baked kale that was a great compliment to the rich and creamy grits. The place is also really cool, we sat on the patio and watched some folks play bocce on their court. Very intimate place. Next time we're in Bar Harbor we're definitely going back!

    This is a cute place for a dink and some yummy pizza. I had the greek pizza pesto based and you can't go wrong. Along with the fish and clam chowder, save your clam chowder crave for some other place though. Also a Salad that was yummy yummy.

    Totally agree with all of the great reviews that highlight the vibe and the mussels. The shrimp grits are also good, and they have a good beer list. Love playing bocce here with my kids.

    Bocce! All five stars come from Bocce! Remember when Bertucci's had Bocce courts? My brother and I called it Bocce Pizza. Am I even supposed to be capitalizing "Bocce"? It's not a proper noun, hmmm. Anyhow, I wouldn't order the pizza at Lompoc again, too cheesy. I would order the hummus again, hearty and flavorful. I should have ordered the tofu for my dinner. I'd like to try that. Aesthetically this was pretty sweet place to eat and drink, among plants on the patio or below exposed beams in the dinning room.

    Wow!!! I'm so glad I read up on Yelp to find what I'd be eating up in Bar Habor. Lompoc was a great place, kind of tucked away. I had the beer battered asparagus with some AMAZING dipping sauce (wish Ma made them this way when I was growing up), the MASSIVE burrito (YUM!), and oh yeah, 4 of the Coal Ale's (MORE YUM!). I'm not that much of a salad fan, but the salad that came with the burrito was great. The dressing was soo good I almost asked for more to dip my burrito in! I sat inside due to some wonderful sunburns I received from hiking. Most people seemed to be sitting outside, other than the folks at the bar. Service was awesome, my waitress was full of charisma, and helped me pick out what I wanted for my main "course". I will definitely come back when I'm in the area. This whole area of Bar Harbor seems to be seafood oriented, and I get enough of that back in CT. Try this place out!

    The service: Terrible. Party of five. We asked for waters all around when we sat down. We never received them. We ordered 2 beers and a cocktail. (They were out of four of the beers on their menu.) We got them. We asked for waters all around again. We received two waters. We didn't ask again. We ordered. Christina ordered a burger: medium. I ordered a burger: rare. My Grandparents ordered salads, and my sister ordered a grilled cheese. The food took a very very long time. The food: My burger, ordered rare, was nothing less than well done. It was also half the size of the burger Christina had ordered (medium, received well done). The disparity was immediately obvious. The food itself, with the huge exception of the burger order, was otherwise OK. I should mention that the cocktail itself was quite good. The burger screw up was quite infuriating, and not bringing water to my 90 year old grandparents is pretty unforgivable. I would recommend skipping this place and heading to one of the well reviewed joints down the street.

    Maybe I was there on a bad night. I don't know. The food was horrible. We started with the Mussels based on the reviews here. They were the one thing that was really good. Get some. Dip your bread in the sauce and you'll love it. But the rest of the food was horrible. My meatloaf resembled a large, dry rock and was served on hard toast with barely a drip of gravy. My partner's burger was WAY over cooked and tasteless. The beer was good. But you can find Anchor Steam bottled beer places where they also have good food.

    WHAT A FIND! YELP guided me here and wow, what a great meal. I had warm garbanzo, shallot, olive, artichoke salad (ALL OF MY FAVES!!!) and my sister had fish sandwich. Very tasty food! The place was DEAD...(why???) off the main street perhaps. Charming outdoor dining, peaceful garden off the noisy main street. Reasonable prices, attentive friendly service, highly recommended.

    The outdoor area of this pub has it's own bocce ball area which was very cool and a rarity at a bar! Half of the place is open to the outdoors and designed with wood giving it a log cabin type feel. Very different and a great atmosphere. I had a great time drinking here.

    What a great place to hang out. Both the bar and restaurant are fun. Relaxed, cool atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly waiters and waitresses. Definitely visit! I wish I had a replica of this place where i live.

    Unfortunately, I was so full from the Know Road Grill that I couldn't possibly eat, despite the tasty looking menu. I did have a few of the "Patio Girl" drinks while sitting outside. It's a great atmosphere - when you are outside you feel like you are in someone's well cared for garden, no weeding involved! Bocchi too. That's entertaining even if you aren't playing....

    The Spicy Dijon Mussels are absolutely outstanding. One of my favorite all time dishes at any restaurant in this country. This wonderful appetizer (mussels bathed in a spicy dijon, white wine and cream sauce) is one of the stars of this great Cafe's menu. Lompoc has a wide array of food and caters to vegan-carnivore. Essentially there is something on the menu for everyone. I really enjoy the Chorizo con Queso pizza. I love the dim lighting and wooden beams inside, and the outside patio complete with boccie court is a great addition to this quirky restaurant. They have a full bar with strong drinks. They were the birth place of the Atlantic Brewing Company so many of the draft and bottled beer options come from this local brewery. I love coming here on my annual trip to Bar Harbor, if you're a visitor or a local Lompoc is definitely worth checking out.

    The wife (meaghan s.) and I hit Lompoc just about every time we're in Bar Harbor. By that, I don't mean we go once on every trip to the Acadia NP area; I mean we go to Lompoc Cafe just about every day we are in or around downtown Bar Harbor. Spicy dijon mussels, every time. Special Old Bitter (my favorite of the Atlantic Brewing Company offerings), every time. Often it is not crowded, which confuses me. The outdoor seating (mostly covered, some open-air) is great, and I consistently enjoy defacing the bathroom with the provided chalk. All good things!

    I read the reviews but was thoroughly unimpressed. Had the fried green tomato salad. The tomatoes weren't green and were rather flacid despite being fried in cornmeal. My deviled egg appetizer didn't come with capers as mentioned in the menu.

    Checked this place out for lunch. I had a "grown up grilled cheese" that was incredibly tasty. I'd definitely try their food again. The wait staff was so-so as far as friendliness, but prompt. Their tables were horrible. I sat at three and all were incredibly wobbly, which was really annoying.

    The Lompoc Cafe & Brew Pub is an excellent option for drinks and food. According to the Atlantic Brewing Company, they started in the kitchen of the Lompoc, which explains their excellent choice of local and import brews. The food selection is not extremely broad, but they are VERY good at what they do. The falafel burger is a great choice for vegetarians and meat eaters alike (seriously, you have to try it). The bocce court is a nice touch. All in all, a nice restaurant with good food and ambience.

    Excellent! Upon someone's recommendation, we ate here while we were visiting Acadia. They have decent vegetarian options and funky menu items. The place itself is pretty neat. You can seat yourself and there are photos on the tables, so you can look at the faces of strangers as you wait for your food. AND! They have a bocce ball court (?)! We ordered the chevre/sundried tomato dish as our appetizer and it was excellent, although I don't think this is an easy thing to screw up. My dining buddy ordered the portabello mushroom with noodles/peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was really good - it had this raw, gritty feel to it, with some spice. I ordered the halibut, and it had a citrusy sauce with chopped almonds over it. It was an interesting spin on a classic fish. Ambiance is a little dark and moody, but very mellow. It just feels like you're chillin at a quiet neighbourhood place. If you're in the area and don't want strictly seafood fare, go here and be delighted by the overall experience.

    Had a pretty good meal here this August. Was a Friday night but got seated quickly. We shared the Dijon Mussels (yummy) and Goat Cheese Salad (just ok) followed by the Pesto Pizza. We didn't play Bocce but it was interesting to have it going on in the background. Could have turned the music down a little (oops, if it's too loud am I too old?????) Food was pretty quick, service friendly and overall a positive if underwhelming experience. Better than those tourist traps on the main st.

    This is another place we always go to in Bar Harbor. Funky and different every time, except the dijon mussels aready noted, are always there. The pork dishes and the sausage ones have been the most memorable. We go late in the season, and the bocce is gone, but the place is always warm. Appears that lots more locals than tourists go there. Service is always great and friendly. Desserts are worth saving room.

    Casual and funky - and great eats. It's also kid friendly - contrary to what it says above. There's a bocce court to keep them busy. Then again, we were there off hour - at prime time the bocce may be reserved for the beer drinkers - and try the blueberry beer. Yum.

    This is where the locals eat and drink. The prices are reasonable and the food was Delicious. We eat out on a patio in early fall, but it was still perfectly wonderful outside. I had crab cakes, and marinated steak tips. Top this off with a nice dark local brew and it was a perfect meal.

    Saw rave reviews on yelp; decided to take a peek. Twenty minute wait. Good table in porch-style annex. Prompt, warm service. Food was average; mediterranean platter was pretty good. All of my friends' dishes, including my own, were less than optimal. Charged us for a taste of the local beer.

    Providing one of my favorite meals in Bar Harbor, Lompoc Cafe was a great yelp recommendation. It's not tecnically a microbrewery, but they push the Atlantic Brewing Company brews and it has that eclectic cuisine feel of a microbrewery. I tell you, after driving five hours in the rain to get to Bar Harbor from Boston, those beers were tasty. Especially the blueberry and the bitter. As for food, good mussels, a fun funky brie pizza, delicious beef stew--no complaints, and great service to boot. The next time I'm up in Bar Harbor, I'm coming back.

    The Dijon mussels are outstanding. My wife is an aficionado of mussels. It's her favorite and growing up on the coast of Massachusetts she's had a lot of them. These she claimed with enthusiasm are the best preparation she's ever had. I agree. Not a single mussel was unopened either- showing that the kitchen really paid attention to what they put out. We also had "the beehive " which is a mound of glorious goat cheese and roasted garlic drizzled with honey and served with Granny Smith apple slices and crusty bread. It too was outstanding. This should be a stop if you make it to town-

    Go here, especially to have your expectations beyond met. The food, service, and ambiance are excellent. A lot of food has a lot of veggies or is implicitly surprising. Try the spicy Dijon mussels or the Beehive to start! Lompoc has a solid list of local beers, and don't pass up the non-alcoholic Maine ginger root beer. There's a shortlist of cocktails with ginger beer on their menu. I've tried the Southern style salad with crispy dark chicken, and several of their scrumptious pizzas. Lompoc is hip, a bit dim, and comfy, with bocce ball beside their manger. It's unique and a gem, but definitely greatly paired with Morning Glory Bakery across the street, and Reel Pizza Cinema down the path.

    Lompoc is the type of restaurant that puts thought and creativity into their recipes. The drinks are bold and refreshing. We loved every bite and sip. Food: I had the best fish sandwich I've ever eaten (quality haddock filet, cooked right and served with a sweet slaw). The dijon sriracha mussels were incredible. The Bishop (pizza with garlic harassi, bacon and ricotta) was incredibly flavorful. Drinks: Dilly bean martini. This was a generously sized drink with top shelf vodka, picked dilly beans (green beans) that had a flavor profile similar to a dirty martini with a kick. I would have snacked on the pickled dilly beans! Beet street band. Ever had a beet shrub? This is a light and refreshing variant with more citrus. The beet gives it an earthy, complex flavor which is balanced by a kick of lemon juice and yet another generous pour of top shelf vodka. Service: We loved Zoe, our server. She was knowledgeable and personable. We asked questions about the menu, the history of the restaurant, and little about her story. As is so often the case, the people make the memory and Zoe helped make our experience unforgettable.

    Eat. Here. We stumbled across Lompoc randomly with low expectations... Based on the mediocre dinners at "the best" places in Bar Harbor. This is the best food/ambiance/staff we experienced downtown during our week in town. We placed our order solely based on recommendations from Zoe (our server) and she nailed it. We started with the ricotta fritters, which were tasty and unique. The fish chowder was the first in town that was from scratch (weird... Considering that we are in seafood heaven). The pizzas were creative and perfectly executed, the lamb shawarma was absolutely delicious.

    Ample outside seating, with nice courtyard location. Menu is exclusively salads, pizzas, and sandwiches, although there is a sufficient variety therein. Got the Tofu Bahn Mi. Not what I was expecting, more of a take on a Bahn Mi, but it was delicious. The sandwich bread they used was incredible. 5 stars for the food, others of us got salads that were also great. However, the sides were a bit lackluster. Side salad was a bit bitter/unremarkable, and the fries tasted store bought. Not horrible, but more like what you'd expect at a restaurant that didn't have such great main dishes. Oh well, a minor gripe. Service was fast, atmosphere was nice. Would visit again.     Stopped in for drinks and appetizers. Good draft beer selection for a smaller place. A lot of their menu items have goat cheese, which I hate. The ricotta fritters were good but they had more red onion than bacon which was a little disappointing. Still tasty I guess just too much red onion and the bacon was basically nonexistent. The hot pitas were tasty. They were almost like a really soft crust pizza with no sauce. Generous amount of cheese and the hummus and harissa (smokey pepper paste) were tasty. Very filling as well and a generous portion, enough to be a meal for most people. Service was friendly but a little slow for dinner time when the dining room was only about 20% full.

    This is definitely the best place we ate Bar Harbor. I do not understand why there isn't a line out the door and am thrilled to have stumbled upon it. The food is delicious, and the garden setting (with bocce court) is beautiful and low key. My boyfriend and I split the ricotta fritters, the fish chowder, the goat cheese and kale pizza and the lamb shawarma sandwich, and all four dishes blew us away. All went very well with the Barrica's Malbec. If we had more time here, we'd be back tomorrow!

    They were so rude and I do not recommend anything about this restaurant. Unfortunately we weren't able to try the food because management irrationally refused to seat our large party, despite our willingness to split into multiple tables. This level of poor service doesn't deserve our business, or yours.

    Lompac is the gastropub for people who want good food in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. With 10+ beers on tap and a creative menu, there's bound to be something for everyone. Our personal favorites are the Fishwich, lobster club, fish chowder, and even the pizzas (especially for the kids). We also lived their side salad featuring mixed greens with a light coating of a shallot vinaigrette. To top it off, there was a bocce court on premises which entertained the kids to no end. An awesome find!

    We lucked out when we ended up at the Lumpoc because another restaurant's wait time was over an hour. We were seated right away and enjoyed a quiet spacious atmosphere on the patio. My husband said the pulled pork was terrific, and the Southern dinner salad I had was likewise delicious. Very fresh and full of candied nuts (I seem to recall they were pecans) and spicy fried chicken thighs. Entertainment was provided by a group of twenty-somethings playing bocce. I loved that there was a lovely Samoyed resting quietly nearby while her owner dined.

    Ended up here because every other place was very crowded, but it just became my favorite cafe in Bar Harbor! The atmosphere is very artsy, and food is awesome- shared a beehive (incredible!!!) with the table and had the tofu sandwich (delicious!!!) myself, both were so good I would absolutely recommend checking this place out!

    Some very adventurous flavor combinations! If you need a break from lobster, this is the place for you. We liked the pizza with harrissa and ricotta and the dijon mussels. The service was a little haphazard, though -- one of our appetizers never came!

    We ate dinner here on Friday evening and had a great time! Cute little garden area, which we were able to eat in (covered area) despite the rain. I wasn't too hungry so stuck with soup and salad. Salad was a basic garden dressed up with sweet corn and house made mint vinegarette. Lobster caprese salad was great too. Corn chowder was flavorful and not overly creamy. Lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans (and meat eaters)! Look forward to coming back!

    Great lobster BLT but way too mayo. Don't have the mint lemonade! The fries are horrible but it has one of the best outdoors spots in Bar Harbor!

    Ate here on a Friday night. Excellent find in a touristy town that isn't overwhelmingly touristy. The restaurant has both inside and outdoors seating; highly recommend sitting outside with the lighted trees. Live music at 10pm and bocce ball court outside keep the place entertaining. The staff were extremely friendly and nice. Excellent draft beer selection. Recommend the Bang Bang Chicken sandwich (siracha and honey). Overall I'd say a hipster feel with a friendly atmosphere!

    Food is really good, the chef is quality- and portions are big. Some things are heavy on the garlic but I like that. Service was excellent, our waitress had some really helpful suggestions. Order the beehive and some Maine beer and enjoy their extensive sandwich offerings. This is a great place to go if you're in town and don't want just seafood.

    Really great pizza. GF liked her cuban sandwich. Outdoor patio was nice. Good beer. GF didn't like her mixed drink. Would definitely come back in the future.

    This place is wonderful. Order the beehive and the ricotta fritters. Sisters got the burgers and the grilled cheese. I got the etna --sandwich with ham, salami, and pesto. All were wonderful.

    Ate here during our Bar Harbor vacation because of all the positive reviews on yelp. Not sure why this place gets such good reviews. We found the food to be average at best and would probably not return as the area has much better options. The service was good and the atmosphere was cool.

    Nice place with a pretty outdoor patio and good food and drinks. We went for dinner, and the service was friendly and the price lower than many Bar Harbor restaurants. The mussels were super fresh. We'll be back next year for sure!

    Best food I've had in Bar Harbor. Got the Bee Hive appetizer which was delicious and savory. They brought us extra bread since we had spread left. I highly recommend the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich... its out of this world! Friendly staff and great service too.

    Stopped in here for a late lunch after hiking and it was great. Hubby said the tuna salad sandwich was EXCELLENT and I had the falafel burger which was very good. Had our two little picky eater boys with us. Chicken fingers were too close to real fried chicken for their palates but great place for adults and good service.

    We found this little gem on yelp and were so stoked we did! The food was excellent! It had a healthy twist with a wide range of variety from vegetarian to comfort food to a yummy burger option. The vibe was lovely with a perfect combo of locals and visitors. Service was excellent! Wish I could remember our servers name because she was exceptionally accommodating. Hope to return again on our next visit...

    Great menu and vibe in an ocean of mediocre and expected food. The ambience was just what we needed after a mind numbing tour of Bar Harbor's tourist traps. The beer menu was normal in number but stellar in quality and variety. The cocktails looked beautiful. We had the lobster cakes (Very good with the chutney). I had the scallops with Korean BBQ -- enjoyed that. This place is a must visit on a nice evening. Sit outside.

    This place was really good! We went there today for a late lunch/early dinner. The happy hour prices meant half-price mussels and $2 off already reasonably priced draughts. It wasn't terribly busy since it was an odd time, and our server was fast, pleasant and attentive. As mentioned, we got the mussels in dijon cream broth, and also the beet carpaccio and a white pizza. Everything was really delicious. The dijon broth on the mussels was really good and not overpowering. The pizza was hot and the crust was perfect. The salad was very fresh. It kicked our already blissed-out vacation mood to another level.

    We used to love the Lompoc but every year it seems like it goes a little more downhill. I do still like the sandwiches (especially the bang bang fried chicken and the lobster club) but just about everything else was lackluster this past time around. My biggest complaint was the Indian lobster cake appetizer...it arrived with a couple of barely detectable specks of lobster. My cocktail was also a disappointment--tasted like some pretty bad liquor was used. Although the prices are reasonable, when in gets right down to it we had much better meals during the rest of our stay in Bar Harbor for just a tad more money. Really the worst thing this time around though was the service. Our waitress would disappear inside for long periods of time, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. We were also seated near the hostess stand outside--the young hostess apparently felt bored mid-evening and also disappeared. We watched at least 4 parties arrive and then decide to leave since no one was there to greet them...it was ridiculous! Next year I'll be trying somewhere new in my Bar Harbor dinner rotation.

    I love this place, I've been coming since they opened many many years ago! That's why I was so disappointed with my usually delicious chicken Caesar salad last night. The romaine was chopped into tiny chunks and it was SOGGY, and mostly consisted of the rib portion of the leaf, yuk! There was hardly any dressing, or flavor for that matter. The grilled chicken, usually served hot and slightly charred in slices across the top, was room temp as well, and the flavor was nothing. Bleeeeechhh. I should have sent it back, but I always hesitate to be the PITA customer. Lompoc, I know it's August, the tourists are here, but seriously??? On the good side, they've got a great selection of local beer on tap, and often have good live music.

    This place is weird, but in the best possible way. We've been coming here since it first opened in the late 80's and it's always been our go-to destination for a beer and a quick bite to eat after a day of nature-loving on the Island. It's hard to say what it is about the place that draws us back so I'll say what it's not: It's not the typical tourist trap serving fried seafood and lobster rolls to the masses. The menu has always been eclectic with a tendency towards (gasp) healthy food. The staff is wonderfully hippiesque and the music isn't the usual commercial craprock you tend to hear in most places (they were playing Yo La Tengo and Bill Callahan on my last visit). The beer list is always great and the outdoor beer garden and bocce court are simply beautiful. I was hesitant to write this review because I'm selfish and don't want this usually quiet and uncrowded place to be overrun with touristy types and their offspring. So take what I wrote with a grain of salt, and remember that there are plenty of other options out there if you prefer some Sheryl Crow with your clam strips.

    Who needs lobster?? Creative appetizers grabbed our attention on the menu outside...WOW!! Brussel Sprouts were outta this world.... teamed up with a Pepita and Beet Salad and some Fritters. Andrew was super friendly and made us outta-towners feel right at home. Great patio and bocce court too!

    Lompoc has a nice vibe...it's centrally located but on a quiet side street with outdoor seating. Good local beers on draft...try the Coal Porter. Service is a little slow, so don't come here if you are in a rush. We shared a bowl if fish chowder (very good) and both had the pan-seared Hake which was OUTSTANDING! If you are looking for a non-touristy place for a meal and a beer in Bar Harbor, this is a good choice.

    Good restaurant and good selection of beer, cocktails. Very nice outdoor seating-- got tired of children heaving bocce balls all over the place, but having the bocce court is probably fun for older kids. Both the pizza with Harissa and the Blaxk Sheep pizza were delicious. Also the Vietnamese-inspires noodle dish, although it seemed over-priced.

    Fun is good. ~ Dr. Seuss I admit we stopped by Lompoc after reading about their awesome Bocce court and the location of being off the beaten path. Imagine: a perfect and serendipitous summer evening, the sky full of stars, live music, sharing cold beverages and hobnobbing while playing Bocce with the friendly locals. Anything you've read about the mussels served here is true because just about every table had a huge plate of them (with another order on the way); Dee said they were fantastic and worth every yelp star here. That said, the menu is limited and the mussels are probably their biggest seller. I opted for the Greek pie and it was very good. The entire front area of the restaurant is uncovered and left open to the fresh ocean air and exquisite summertime weather; oh, how I would love to be caught in a rainstorm here.

    I read the good reviews and was excited to try this. The service was fast but the food took forever to come. We ordered the mussels which were okay. After that everything was downhill we ordered $21 steak, the steak was well flavored but cold, the snap peas were old and stringy on top of that they were burnt on one side and raw on the other. The potatoe salad was freezing ( unpleasently). We also had the lobster cakes , very little lobster, the rest was undistinguishable and almost slimey. We mentioned a couple of these issues to the waitress and she said she would inform the chef but never mentioned what the chef said. Very disappointed after very high expectations from previous reviews. I love eating out and am pained that this is the most negative review I have given. Normally previous reviews guide me well!!!!

    This was a new find on our last trip to Bar Harbor in August. We went for some pre-dinner apps and a few drinks on a rainy day. We were the only ones there upon opening, but it filled up pretty quickly. We tried the grits, the mussels, and the beehive. All three items were super. My mom, who doesn't even eat grits, loved them and was blown away. The beehive is something we keep meaning to replicate at home... roasted garlic and goat cheese layers with honey? It's just SO good. The reason we wanted to go to Lompoc was to dry the mussels and we weren't disappointed. They had the best dijon flavor and I can't wait to go back to have them again. I wish I would have tried them earlier in the week because I would have gone back a few more times to have them again. Can't wait to visit again on my next trip to Bar Harbor!!

    A must-eat place for visitors to Bar Harbor. This place hits all the right notes with the food, atmosphere, and drinks. It was 9pm and we were desperately trying to find a place that was still open for dinner. Although their kitchen closed at 9:30 (they stay open later for drinks), the woman on the phone graciously invited us over. Although a bit dark, the outdoor seating was gorgeous and spacious. There's also a bocce ball court that runs alongside it. I. Appetizers: - Spicy dijon mussels - 5/5 - Fantastic. If you must order an appetizer, this one should be it. A hearty portion of mussels in a thick creamy soup that was super mustardy, and yet somehow it worked. I'm not a fan of mustard or wasabi at all, but the soup was my favorite part of the meal. -Lobster rangoon - 3/5 - Pretty good - as good as a normal crab rangoon is. The cream cheese was a little overpowering. - Ricotta bacon fritters - 5/5 - Yum. The best part of this dish was the accompanying pesto dipping sauce it came with. - Beehive - 5/5 - super fancy cheese appetizer. Comes with great bread. I can only describe it as a fancy cheese lasagna -- layers of cheese with roasted garlic in between the layers. Comes with delectable honey dribbled on top. II. Entrees - For the entree, I got a lobster club. The lobster meat was APLENTY. They were literally falling out of the sides as I took every bite. They were generous with their perfectly cooked bacon as well. A great sandwich, although a little heavy so I couldn't finish all of it. Comes with the choice of fries or a delicious scallion vinegrette salad. III. Drinks - Their drink menu is extensive. I have never been more enticed by so many mixed drinks on a menu. They were innovative and incorporated flavors that I wouldn't have dreamed of combining. I went with a drink that used lavender infused vodka. All of their drinks definitely have a punch, so they are well worth the ~$10 they have on them. Overall, a fantastic experience. Our waitress was super accommodating and we didn't feel a single bit rushed even though the kitchen was closing 10 minutes after we sat down. Definitely recommend.

    Bar Harbor is not my scene. There's something about vacationing New Englanders and their children that rubs me the wrong way. I wish I had known that before heading there in the middle of August. Anyway, we were looking for someplace to eat on a Wednesday night. EVERYWHERE was packed. This place said we could get a table in twenty minutes so we settled into the bar for a drink. Drinks were good, prices were reasonable. Their cocktail menu was interesting and had a few very good looking concoctions on it. The bartender was working very, VERY hard to keep up with the pace (it was one guy vs. the world). Bravo, sir. Getting a table took a bit longer than twenty minutes. Whatever. We were lead out onto a very nicely lit patio which appeared delightful. And then it began. A ravenous pack of screaming children playing bocce ball in the court included within Lompocs courtyard. And, what luck, my table was directly next to one end of it. It took about five minutes of having weighted balls chucked at me by five year old kids to realize this wasn't conducive to dining. We left. In the few minutes I did look at the menu it looked OK. I'm sure their food is just fine but part of running a restaurant is controlling the atmosphere - something it seems like they are failing at both from my experience and reading other recent reviews on here.

    Came here for dinner with my boyfriend, sister, and her boyfriend while in Bar Harbor. The place is so cute, ambience is wonderful, decor is great, and lighting is perfect. They also have a Bocce court outside. Our waitress was so cute (my sister and I couldn't stop raving about how adorable she was!). We ordered a few drinks (wine and beer) and started with the warm artichoke dip (we all loved it) and the spicy dijon mussels (asked for more bread to use for the artichoke dip and they gladly gave us more). For our entrees, I ordered the Lompoc tikka which was yummy (my sister's bf ordered the same dish). My sister ordered the pizza Allium (garlic and olive oil base, caramelized onions, leeks, ricotta) which was great as well. My boyfriend ordered the peanut noodles which he thought was a small portion size. Overall a great meal. Would definitely recommend!

    I write this split between two feelings. One is the service. The cute little hipster bar tender was really good at what she did. She was buzzing around that bar taking care of people like a well-oiled machine. No one had to wait for a drink. She was amazing. And obviously knew exactly what she was doing. And the drinks are great. The beer was cold. The place was a little small to be housing the loud music that played. A punk band consisting of a guitar and drummer only was tearing the house down. But that's not Lompoc's fault. But then there's the technical side of my review, which is why it's getting a low rating. Unfortunately, I just can't let these things slide because they concern safety and health. Number one, the band packed all its equipment casing in the stair well to the street. Blocked door. Then the other door was locked. EHHHHH. Hello fire hazard! Secondly, when the bar tender made her way around the tables picking up the empty pint glasses, I was really impressed with her speed and efficiency. Then I watched her give them all a couple of quick dunks in one sink, then a single dunk in another, and call it done. I don't care how hot the water is (which is obviously wasn't, as it had been sitting there for a long time) or how much sanitizer you have in the sink. A couple of dunks for less than three seconds won't kill anything. Contact / rinse sanitizing agents take at least 30 seconds to work effectively. I was so disgusted by this that I slid my pint across the bar and tried to walk out of the place. This is when I realized I was locked in, and had to weed my way out through some side door to a patio where I finally found a serviceable exit. Good places can be ruined by experiences like these. Disgusting, unsanitary handling of the beer glasses, and dangerous fire hazards turn me off of a joint real quick. Oh - and one more quick thing - they were writing down our credit card numbers when we opened tabs. Presumably this was to run them later or something. But I foresee some problems with that system.

    After spending the day in Acadia, we raced over to get here before the kitchen closed at 930. We were seated immediately but unfortunately in an area so dimly lit that we had to whip at the cell phones to look at the menu. Otherwise the dim, cool summer atmosphere was very relaxing. We ordered the mussels, beehive, lobster Rangoon, and ricotta bacon fritters as apps. You must order the mussels!! The spicy Dijon cream sauce was to die for. We asked for extra bread bc we couldn't keep ourselves from continuously dipping into that sauce to devour. I even used it for my fries. The lobster Rangoon and fritters were as expected -- hits the spot and tastes good but wasn't blown away. Some people really enjoyed the beehive but the honey & cheese just wasn't my thing. We all ordered the lobster club which was the best lobster roll I've had bc it's not shoved into a small hotdog bun and the crispy bacon just puts it on a difft level of greatness. Great service and food. Huge selection of local and specialty beers. Mixed drinks were strong and innovative as well. Def rec stopping by!!

    A great choice for lunch or dinner, with delicious food, a great bar, and an involved staff. We especially enjoyed dinner, outside in the cool night air with a pint from the Atlantic Brewing Co, as a family played bocce on the restaurant's court. Everything we tried was worth repeating; the only thing we have no info about are the pizzas, since we didn't order any.

    Came here on a nice Sunday night, the outdoor area is really nice, I like the large tree rather than having umbrellas at each table. The place certainly has a hipster vibe. When I walked in there wasn't really anyone to guide me what do and I kind of walked around confused for a minute before I just sat at a table and was taken care of, but I figure Sunday nights are their busiest. I got a drink (the Svekda, iced tea, and lemonade), it was pretty good, fairly strong, and sufficiently large for $7. I also got the Bam Bam Chicken Sandwich which was okay, nothing fantastic, the chicken was good, but the slaw on the sandwich was just purple cabbage with some mayonnaise, it was a lazy attempt at slaw. Fries were better than average. All in all, its a good place to go but I don't think I'd visit twice.

    By far the best restaurant in Bar Harbor. The only thing I asked for for my birthday this year was the famous "Beehive." A delicious combination of whole roasted Garlic, goat cheese, and honey... the Chef even served it with a birthday candle :) The menu is different from most on the island, and every dish is made to perfection. Don't miss this great find!

    It's our second dinner in Bal Harbor since we arrived from NYC. Our first dinner at McKays was ..filling but blahhhh. Lompoc's really knocked out our modest expectations out of the park w tasty menu and well seasoned food. Was a great surprise. Young staff were very friendly and attentive. Casual outdoor seating next to bocce court was a nice touch. Go here!

    Seated quickly inside-flys all over the window but it was okay with us. Mussels were great!! Hubby got a kalamata pizza that was delish and I got the lompac tikka which was delicious! Not too pricey and quick service
